The Mitsubishi A6M5 is one of the most prolific fighters from the early years of World War II. The Navy Pattern 0 Fighter had no official name. The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk was a US fighter plane from World War II. It was powered by an Allison V-1717-39 engine. The plane could reach the flight levels of 8,800m and speeds up to 590 kph. On its wings, there were 6 Browning M2 12.7mm rifles. Between 1939 and 1944 there were almost 14,000 of these planes produced in different versions.

During WW2 the Marine Corps trained a small number of ‘War Dogs’ for service in the Pacific. They were first used on Bougainville and Peleliu but saw most active duty on Guam where 60 war dogs and their handlers went ashore and twenty were killed or believed ‘missing-in-action.’ Some other war dogs served as ‘messenger dogs’ while more were used as ‘sentries’ or on the ‘point’ of patrols where their superior animal senses often negated any surprise attack or ambush by the Japanese. Not surprisingly Marine ‘war dogs’ were expert at ‘flushing-out’ hidden enemies and, alas, suffered heavy losses especially on Iwo Jima. ‘War Dogs’ were mostly recruited from civilian owners and screened to eliminate high-strung or vicious animals. Mongrels often proved the best adapted to their military duties followed by German Shepherds. Dobermans however turned out to be ‘too nervous’. Our kneeling Marine handler, complete with Winchester Shotgun and holstered M1911 Colt Automatic gets ready for the next operation together with his brown & black cross breed called ‘Sailor’.

The USS Wahoo (SS-238) was a Gato-class submarine used in The United States Navy which gained fame thanks to taking part in the battles in the Pacific during World War II. Historic sources claim that it sunk 20 Japanese ships. It was 95.02m long and 8.31m wide. The crew of the USS Wahoo consisted of 80 commanding officers and sailors. This is the third version of the CURTISS P-40 “Tomahawk” that K&C has made. Previous models have included an RAF “Desert Air Force” one and the classic “Flying Tigers” version. The new model is in the standard olive drab and light grey colour scheme typical of US Army Air Corps aircraft at this time. Our model bears the code number “160” of the aircraft 2nd Lieut . George Welch flew on 7 December and belongs to the 15th Pursuit Squadron. The Air Corps officially credited Lieut. Welch with 4 “kills” and several others damaged. This “Pearl Harbor P40” comes complete with a standing figure of a US Army Air Corps pilot wearing a non standard “Hawaiian” shirt over his khakis and carrying a.45 Colt Automatic.
